There are two ways to ship products from Yiwu City to any given destination. One way is to ship by full container load and the other is to ship by less than container load as mentioned below.

Ship by FCL (full container load) from Yiwu

Most of the buyers like to ship by FCL as it’s relatively cheaper and secure. Once the products are delivered at the warehouse, the container can be loaded and shipped. It can be opened at the destination port or your own warehouse.

Most of the buyers hire a trading agent for shipping products as it is very convenient. Trading agents know well how to arrange the shipment. They will collect goods, do quality check, provide warehouse/load men, arrange customs declaration, prepare documents and follow up the whole process.

To fill the container, there are a number of products available in Yiwu Market. Some cartons can easily fill up a 20 feet (28 cubic meter), if not a 40 feet container. The easiest way is to fill some disposable foam food containers to fill up the extra space. It costs only around 45 USD/cubic meter. These foam containers are very light and can also be used to protect your expensive products.

It is important to know the procedure of customs clearance at your destination port. Customs agents at your port can help in clearance and handling.

Ship by LCL (less than container load) from Yiwu:

LCL is better in case there is less than 15 CBM. If it is more than 15 CBM, opt for a 20 feet container. The process is more or less the same as shipping by FCL, but you must put a mark on each carton. It’s really cheap to ship this way out from Yiwu, but the handling charges at the destination ports are usually very high.

Price of the products is already very low in Yiwu. However, people are still keen on to buy products at even lower prices. It is surely possible if you are a bit careful about a few things while purchasing from Yiwu china. Below is how one can get a good price from Yiwu market.

GET RID OF DIPPING

Dipping is an increase in the price of products by your agent. Vendor usually asks the agent how to quote the price and surely there would be mention of dipping. In Chinese it is called Dian (pronounced as d-ee-an). It is like commission and vendors usually hike price by 1%. This is how Yiwu market works.

So if there is a mention of this word when the vendor and the agent are having a conversation, you must say No Dian. It will surely be a shock to your agent. Indeed knowledge of some basic numbers in local language is of help. So here are numbers from 0 to 10 as pronounced in Chinese language: ling, yee, er, san, s, wu, liu, chi, ba, jiu, sh.

BULK IS BETTER

The more the better holds true in Yiwu. If you are planning to buy small quantity of any given product, there is hardly any scope for bargain. Whereas, on buying products in bulk can be very beneficial as you can avail heavy discounts on bulk buying.

For example, if you buy one container of straws, you may get a 3% discount on it. However, on the purchase of a few cartons there would be very limited space for bargain.

PAY OFF THE BALANCE

Pay off the balance while collecting your orders. Many suppliers are willing to offer a slight discount if you can pay off the balance upon goods delivery as they don’t need to keep big cash flow.

COMPARITIVE STUDY

Always compare the price of products at various shops. Yiwu is a huge market and there are over thousands of suppliers here. Evidently, there is a tough competition that leads to good bargains and discounts. If you have enough time, make sure you visit at least ten shops for the same product and you are very likely to get lucky with the lowest ever price.

Always keep the above-mentioned points in mind to get the best price from Yiwu market.
Kindly contact us for any queries.

Money Access in Yiwu

It’s always wise to arrange your finances in advance if you are travelling to a different country. If you are planning to visit Yiwu City for business or leisure, here are few useful tips to help you out with your finances.

Money Exchange

Money Exchange and Financial Transactions in Yiwu are quite easy. One can exchange money into Chinese Yuan Renminbi at various banks in Yiwu. Starting from airports to the hotels, you would get money exchange facility at various places.

Though many banks exchange currency in Yiwu, most of them do not accept New Zealand Dollars. Therefore, NZ visitors should exchange their currency into US dollars before entering China.

All exchange places have ‘buy’ and ‘sell’ rates. It implies that one can either sell his currency or buy the local currency. However, there’s always an undisclosed commission. Always ask them about their commission rate before changing your currency. Moreover, there is a different rate for Travelers’ Cheques/Checks (T/C).

Can I Use Credit Card?

Most of the shops in Yiwu City do not accept international business credit cards. However, if the card has Visa/Master logo, one can easily withdraw money from Yiwu ATMs. Many banks such as Bank of China, ICBC, China Construction Bank, provide ATM facility for international cards.

Withdrawing Money from ATMs

Withdrawing money from ATMs can pinch your pocket a bit as the rate is high. There is also certain limitations on the amount that you can withdraw at one go and in a day. For an instance, a China local card can take out only 2,500 RMB (365 USD) at one go and 20,000 RMB (2.920 USD) per day from an ATM. One must confirm rates and limitations from the bank staff before using ATM to withdraw money.

Certainly, carrying cash is the easiest way. One can check with customs for how much money (your local currency or foreign dollars) is allowed to take out of your country. Nevertheless, international cards (Visa, Master) can serve as backup options.

Is It Easy To Wire Money To a Yiwu Local Bank?

If you plan to withdraw over 10,000 USD from banks during your stay in Yiwu, you can better exchange that money into RMB in your own country and wire it to someone’s bank account in Yiwu. Once the transfer is done, you can withdraw the money from his/her local account after you arrive in Yiwu. Withdrawing money from a local account in Yiwu is almost free. But it takes several working days to transfer money from your bank account to a Yiwu bank account. Ensure that the person is trustworthy.
